Barbara Stevens: You’ve captured the light really well, and I love the cyclists. I’m not sure about the lamp post – I think that it might be better without it.
Gina Grimwood: I like this picture a lot – especially the water with its gentle reflections -it’s just right. Not sure about the lamp-it’s probably something you’ll have to try out!
Margaret Eggleton: A good painting but a pity about the lamp post! Could you paint it out, David?
Dave Tribe: I appreciate your comments but still like the lamp post. Also, can’t remove it – would upset the dogs!

Artist’s comments: I wanted to try a landscape and I wanted to do a big painting. Comments, however critical, are much appreciated.

Feedback from members:
Barbara Stevens: What a lovely sunny painting. I think I would crop a bit off the right-hand side so that the castle isn’t dead centre, and I would tone the green on the left-hand side down a bit – make it a bit browner.
Gina Grimwood: This is a lovely subject & I agree with Barbara’s comments above -especially about the castle being dead centre. Even though the reflection is obviously a mirror image, I think it needs breaking up a bit as it goes towards the bottom of the picture-mainly the sky area.

Feedback from members:
Joy Crouch: I quite like the way the buildings are situated together. I don’t mind the car because your eye comes back into the picture with the help of the slanted roof. Maybe I would have opened the gate. All in all I like this painting.
George Foxwell: I really like it, I’ve no problem with the car.  Has anybody noticed the Alien looking out of the window?
